The first of 29 jacket foundations has set sail from Spain for Iberdrola’s 350MW Wikinger offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea.
Heavy lifting specialist ALE loaded out of the 625-tonne jacket last week using a self-propelled modular transporter and a CC8800 crawler crane.
The jackets have been fabricated by Navantia Shipyards in Spain, with Danish company Bladt responsible for the project’s other 41 foundations.
Adwen is supplying 70 5MW turbines for the project, with installation due in 2017.
Full commissioning is due later that year.
