The Planning Inspectorate has issued a report of recommendation to Energy Secretary Amber Rudd for Western Power Distribution’s proposed grid link for RWE Innogy’s 57.4MW Brechfa Forest West wind farm in Wales.
DECC’s final decision on the 28.6km Brechfa Forest Connection to an existing overhead line near Llandyfaelog in Carmarthenshire is due by 6 October.
WPD’s project will facilitate RWE’s 28-turbine Brechfa Forest West wind farm in Strategic Search Area G.
The developer has signed on German turbine manufacturer Senvion to supply 28 MM92 turbines, each with a rated capacity of 2.05MW and tip height of 145 metres.
The Renewables Obligation project meets DECC’s grace period criteria of securing a grid connection agreement, land rights agreement and a development consent order by 18 June 2015.
These ‘approved developments’ have until 31 March 2017 to complete construction and accredit under the RO.
Projects that meet these approved development conditions and subsequently experience a grid delay benefit from a further grace period and have until 31 March 2018 to accredit under the RO.
