Alterra Power and Axium Infrastructure’s 62MW Jimmie Creek run-of-river hydro project achieved full capacity output for the first time on 29 June, the same day its East Toba and Montrose plants achieved 238MW of output.
Jimmie Creek is currently selling its power under a contract with Powerex Corp, Alterra said.
The company expects the project to achieve full commercial operations in August, when it will start selling all its power under a 40-year contract with BC Hydro.
Alterra vice president of hydro operation Jay Sutton said: “After a two-year construction period, we are excited to see Alterra’s latest renewable project operating at full strength.
“The Jimmie Creek project remains ahead of schedule and under budget, and will be a strong addition to Alterra’s hydro generation portfolio.”
