Danish engineering consultancy Ramboll is advising Dong Energy on plans to convert the coal-fired Asnæs power station in Kalundborg to a biomass-powered CHP plant.
Ramboll will prepare tender documents for fuel handling, boiler/flue gas, turbine plants, building and construction, electrical, control system/Scada and remaining plant systems.
The tenders for fuel handling, boiler/flue gas and turbine plants will be offered and the contracts negotiated in 2016 on the condition that Dong’s board makes a final investment decision on the project by the end of January next year.
The project would see the power station deliver steam, heating and electricity generated using sustainable woodchip instead of coal.
