UKIP AM Mark Reckless has been elected unopposed as chairman of the Welsh Assembly’s climate change, environment and rural affairs committee.
Reckless was the sole nomination for the role and was elected without the need for a secret ballot.
The former Conservative and later UKIP MP has been a vocal critic of low-carbon policies.
Reckless stood at the 2014 Rochester and Strood by-election on a platform to abolish the Department of Energy and Climate Change, scrapping green subsidies and repealing the Climate Change Act 2008.
In March, Reckless refused to sign the Climate Change Commission for Wales’ commitment to the Paris Agreement to demonstrate the country’s commitment to tackling climate change.
