BWSC has started construction of a £140m biomass plant at Discovery Park in Sandwich in Kent.
The contractor took possession of the development site earlier this month, with construction expected to take about two years to complete.
Approximately 300 jobs will be created during construction and 30 full-time positions once the facility is operational.
Biomass fuel will be sourced from various wood types, including coppice grown locally in Kent and East Sussex.
Discovery Park managing director Paul Barber said: “The new biomass plant, is a vital part of ensuring the site’s ongoing success – part of a number of investments and ongoing work that will not only create jobs and prosperity for East Kent but increases its sustainability too.”
