Siem Offshore has kicked off installation of array cables at RWE and Northland Power’s 332MW Nordsee 1 offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
The Siem Aimery vessel is tackling the work which includes the laying of ten JDR-made 33kV wires totalling some 70km.
The milestone was announced at the WindForce conference which got underway in Bremerhaven this morning.
Nordsee 1 executive Tim Kittelhake said: “Last month, we installed all 54 foundations for the wind turbines and the foundations of the offshore transformer station successfully. We intend to build the actual substation later this summer. The completion of the park’s internal cable routing is planned for autumn.”
Senvion will supply 54 6.2M126 turbines to the project with installation starting in early 2017.
