Law firm Bird & Bird has appointed Sophie Dingenen as a partner in its renewable energy division.
Dingenen (pictured) joins from Baker & McKenzie and will be based in The Hague where she will advise companies on the development of renewable energy projects and cross-border mergers, privatisations and restructurings.
Bird & Bird said there is a strong need for strategic advice in the Netherlands as its government presses companies there to increase their renewable energy usage.
Dingenen has also worked as an in-house lawyer at South Stream Transport BV and spent 11 years at Norton Rose Fulbright.
“It’s a really exciting time for the energy sector in the Netherlands and in the wider European market,” said Dingenen.
“Given the ever-changing regulatory landscape and the need for investments to achieve the challenging Kyoto targets, clients are looking for advisors that really understand their businesses.”
