Lightsource Renewable Energy has connected the 4.83MW peak Crookedstone Road solar farm in Antrim to Belfast International Airport’s private network.
The project is Northern Ireland’s first ever large-scale solar facility and the first ground-based PV facility to be completed on the island of Ireland.
It will provide 27% of the airport’s annual electricity demand under a 25-year power purchase agreement.
Lightsource chief executive officer Nick Boyle said: “We’re delighted to announce the connection of Ireland’s first large-scale solar farm.”
