HiDef Aerial Surveying is to undertake ultra-high resolution digital video aerial surveys of birds and marine life across Dong Energy’s Hornsea 3 offshore wind farm site off the coast of Yorkshire.
The company is already conducting similar surveys for Dong at the 258MW Burbo Bank 2 and up to 700MW Isle of Man projects.
HiDef technical director Steve Burns said: “We’re delighted to have been selected by Dong Energy through competitive tender once again, as this confirms for us that the market leader in offshore wind development considers us to be the market leader for digital aerial survey.
“The development of post-2020 projects is essential in ensuring that the UK continues to lead the way in offshore wind, creating and protecting both jobs in the UK and the country’s energy security.”
UK law firm Pinsent Masons will assist Dong in the development consent process for Hornsea 3.
A multidisciplinary team, led by energy and planning partner, Gareth Phillips, will work with the Danish company to secure consent.
Phillips said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to assist Dong Energy in delivering this nationally significant energy project.”
