Dong has awarded a project certification services contract for its 1.2GW Hornsea offshore wind farm in England to the ABS Group.
The contract covers quality assurance/control document review and manufacturing inspection of three offshore substations as well as one reactive compensation substation, including the topsides and foundations.
Inspections will be carried out in five European countries and involve about 30 inspectors, ABS said.
“We are proud to support Dong Energy on this new record size offshore wind farm project,” ABS Group director of renewable energy Torsten Muuss said.
The Hornsea project is expected to start operating by 2020 about 120 kilometers off the Yorkshire coast.
