French fabricator STX has been confirmed as the offshore substation manufacturer for the 385MW Arkona offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea.
The deal was reported in July last year by subscriber-only newsletter reNEWS.
STX will build the foundation jacket, batteries, the topside and will also be in charge of transport and installation.
The contract includes a one-year maintenance deal.
STX said it has selected Schneider Electric and ABB to work on the electrics. Seaway Heavy Lifting has been hired to transport and install the structure in the summer 2018.
“We are very proud that Eon, one of the main operators in offshore wind, has entrusted us with the engineering and complete management of this turnkey project that could become a reference in the marine energy,” said STX director Frederic Grizaud.
Arkona is being built by Eon and Statoil. It will feature 60 Siemens turbines boosted to 6.4MW.
