GeoSea has installed the final foundation at Northland Power’s 332MW Nordsee 1 offshore wind farm some 40 km north of the island of Juist in the German North Sea.
All 54 monopile foundations and transition pieces are in place ahead of the installation of the turbine tower segments. Foundation installation was completed six weeks ahead of schedule, owners Northland and RWE Innogy said in a statement.
During the installation process, four monopiles and four transition pieces at a time were loaded on the jack-up Innovation at the base port of Cuxhaven.
The foundations were erected at water depths of 26 to 29 meters. Each Ambau-built monopile foundation is up to 70 meters tall and weighs approximately 900 tonnes.
Installation of the inter-array cables is imminent, Nordsee 1 executive Tim Kittelhake said. The Bladt fabricated substation will follow this summer. Installation of Senvion 6MW machines is expected to begin in early 2017.
Full commissioning of the wind farm is slated for 2017. Nordsee One is owned by Northland Power Inc. (85%) and RWE International SE (15%).
