The Ohio Supreme Court has confirmed a site permit granted to EverPower Wind Holdings for the Buckeye 2 wind project.
A 5-2 decision upholds approval granted in 2013 by the Ohio Power Siting Board. The permit authorises construction of up to 56 turbines on 13,500 acres of private property in Champagne County.
A group of residents, the county and other local government entities had appealed, claiming the approval process was flawed.
Both phases of the 200MW Buckeye wind farm have been tied up in legal battles. Regulators previously extended the deadline to start construction to May 2018.
EverPower is owned by European private equity outfit Terra Firma Capital Partners.
