EverPower Wind Holdings has slashed more than one third of the turbines from its proposed Scioto Ridge wind farm in Ohio.
The developer agreed to cut 67 turbines in a settlement agreement with project opponents. For their part, appellants agreed to drop an appeal to the Ohio Supreme Court.
The original 2014 state permit authorized construction of 176 units for total capacity up to 300MW.
EverPower also recently received state approval to add two new turbines to its approved list.
The Suzlon S111 2.1MW and GE 103 1.7MW have become available since the original application and have smaller rotor diameters and shorter total height than the maximum of the currently certificated turbines, said the developer.
The reconfigured 107-turbine Scioto Ridge project will span parts of Hardin and Logan counties.
The Pittsburgh-headquartered proponent is also developing the two-phase 200MW Buckeye wind farm in Champaign County. The 100-turbine project is tied up in a legal battle with opponents and a decision isn’t expected for several months.
