Highland Council has blocked RES Group’s proposed 12-turbine Aberarder wind farm south of Loch Ness in Scotland.
Members of the south planning applications committee today voted six to three against the 36MW proposal despite a positive recommendation from planners.
Some councillors suggested there was enough development in the area, which also includes SSE’s under-construction 94MW Dunmaglass.
Tip heights were set at 130 metres and the project was due to feature 3MW hardware.
Councillors deferred a decision last month in order to assess the project site first hand on a visit conducted on Monday.
