Siemens has completed the installation of the first 3MW turbine at Vattenfall’s 228MW Pen Y Cymoedd wind farm in South Wales.
Installation work on the site began in January with Vattenfall today confirming that the first 145-metre turbine has been installed.
Favourable weather conditions saw cranes swing into action earlier in the week on what will be England and Wales’ largest onshore wind farm once complete.
The first rotor was lifted into place earlier today.
Siemens expects to have completed the turbine installation phase by the end of the year with a further 75 turbines set to be installed.
