The first of 76 Siemens 3MW turbines at Vattenfall’s 228MW Pen Y Cymoedd wind farm in South Wales will be installed today.
Installation work on the site began in January with the developer today confirming that the first 145-metre turbine is on track to rise on Monday.
Favourable weather conditions are expected to see cranes swing into action. Vattenfall anticipates a crane can complete a turbine installation in around 12 hours if weather conditions hold.
Siemens expects to have completed the turbine installation phase by the end of the year.
