US developer NextEra Energy Resources has unveiled an early stage wind project in Michigan’s Thumb region.
The up to 125MW Tuscola 3 wind farm could consist of about 58 turbines, NextEra communications director Steven Stengel told reNEWS.
“Project specs won’t be final until we file a site plan and that won’t be until sometime this summer,” said Stengel.
The proponent is scouting turbine sites in Ellington, Almer and Fairgrove townships in Tuscola County.
The Florida-based energy company already operates two wind farms in the county: 120MW Tuscola Bay features 75 1.6MW GE turbines and 100.3MW Tuscola Bay 2 comprises 59 1.7MW GE machines.
If the Tuscola 3 scheme goes ahead, construction is slated for 2017.
