Danish manufacturer Vestas is to supply nine of its V105-3.45MW turbines to EDF for the 31MW Beck Burn wind farm in the north of England.
The order is part of a new wide-ranging master supply agreement with EDF Energies Nouvelles for at least 45% of the developer’s European onshore installations and at least 30% of US efforts through 2019.
The Beck Burn deal was first reported exclusively in subscriber-only newsletter reNEWS.
Chief executive Antoine Cahuzac said: “EDF Energies Nouvelles has plans to significantly grow its wind asset base. This long-term agreement will help us in reaching our goals as it offers the opportunity to secure flexibility and cost-efficiency for a lot of our upcoming wind projects.”
Vestas said the UK first order for V105s “emphasises the competitiveness and flexibility of our 3MW platform in a market typically dominated by height restrictions and less efficient technologies”.
Hardware will be delivered in the fourth quarter ahead of the Renewables Obligation deadline end March 2017. The deal includes a service agreement.
