UK solar power company Renovagen today launched an up to £1m equity crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube.
The company seeks to raise a minimum of £600,000 for its ‘roll-array’ portable solar power solution.
The funding is needed to deliver a “recent significant order” for demonstration systems, to build a business development team, marketing and international channel partners, and to cover additional production setup costs.
Renovagen aims to fully roll-out the product this year and to run multiple international demo projects in advance of scaling up in 2017.
The product consists of flexible, rollable, transportable solar farm units combining integrated energy storage.
Renovagen said the technology enables the fast deployment of large solar power capacity – 18kW from a small trailer unit within two minutes or up to 300kW from a shipping container unit in less than an hour.
“The ‘plug-and-play’ design makes it easy to use without requiring solar engineers on-site – a key benefit for deploying in the remote locations for which the solution is targeted,” the company said.
Renovagen also said it has set up an advisory board of veterans from key industry sectors to help support its business development strategy.
The appointments include: former chief executive officer of Climate Change Capital Mark Woodall as chairman;and renewables financing and business models Advisor Kostas Nikolopoulos.
