Sal Heavy Lift has won a transport contract to deliver transition pieces for the 402MW Veja Mate offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
The work will entail Hamburg-based SAL making 12 voyages from Aalborg in Denmark to Eemshaven in the Netherlands, where the transition pieces will be handed over to a specialised installation vessel.
The transition pieces, which are more than 25 meters long and weigh approximately 360 tons, will be transported in vertical position.
The work will start in June and is scheduled to end in August. The contract was awarded by Dutch Offshore WindForce, a joint venture between Boskalis and Volker Stevin International.
SAL will also be responsible for the design, engineering, fabrication of specialised grillages and lifting tools.
