Gamesa has been awarded a turnkey construction contract for the 70MW Colonia Arias wind farm in Uruguay.
The Spanish company will supply developer Rafisa with 35 G114-2.0MW turbines for the project which is located in the Flores region.
Rafisa is a trustee of the Financiero Arias Trust which is backed and managed by Uruguay’s state utility UTE.
Gamesa will handle all civil and electrical works with the hardware due to be delivered in December ahead of a second quarter 2017 commissioning.
The turbine manufacturer will also operate and manage the wind farm for 15 years under the deal.
