Marine engineering outfit James Fisher and Sons has won a £25m contract for work at the 336MW Galloper wind farm off the coast of Suffolk.
The Cumbria-based company said it will provide a range of marine support services during the build.
As part of the deal, James Fisher said it will work on construction site set-up, marine co-ordination and OWMS marine management. It will also operate crew transfer vessels, vessel refueling and emergency response services.
The £1.5bn Galloper project is a joint equity partnership of 25% each between RWE Innogy UK, UK Green Investment Bank, Siemens Financial Services and Macquarie Capital.
Construction is expected to begin in June with a commissioning date slated for March 2018.
Galloper project director Toby Edmonds said: “We are very pleased to be working with James Fisher as our Offshore Services Contractor (OSC), a key partner to integrate a broad range of marine services for this important development. James Fisher, as a UK based service supplier, is well placed to meet these demands.”
James Fisher CEO Nick Henry said: “We’re delighted to be working with Galloper Wind Farm Limited on this exciting and challenging project.
“The contract entails bringing together a range of services from across our group and utilises the experience and investments made in recent years in offshore renewables. We are committed to being part of driving operational efficiencies and reducing contractual risk through the integration of these services.”
