The NorSea Group’s Stordbase facility in Norway has been chosen by Statoil as the assembly headquarters for the developer’s 30MW Hywind floating offshore wind farm in Scotland.
NorSea said today the contract is worth up to €70m and will begin on 1 March.
The contract is for the preparation and adaption of the Stord base for the five Siemens SWT-6.0-154 turbines to feature on the project.
It also includes fabrication of foundations, turbine storage and mooring for substructures.
NorSea’s Group CEO John E. Stangeland said: “NSG is very grateful and proud to have been awarded this crucial contract from Statoil.
“We want to be a preferred supplier of integrated services to the supplier industry and wind farm owners in the offshore wind market.
“This contract will therefore be a key step in our strategy of offering cost-effective solutions to the renewable energy market.”
Director of Market and Business Development Kenneth Bjørholm added: “Being awarded this contract in the face of strong competition from other installation base alternatives reaffirms that our long-term work on identifying optimal solutions for the utilisation of the Stord base for floating offshore wind has been correct.”
