ABS Group is to provide certification services and design verification for the Dounreay Tri floating offshore wind project in Scotland.
The US company has been hired by developer Hexicon to provide third-party services at the around 12MW demonstrator off Caithness.
ABS’s certification scope will cover independent verification of the design basis, detailed design, manufacturing inspections, installation supervision, commissioning supervision and in-service inspections.
ABS is already on the job providing “preliminary planning and advice in support of Hexicon’s development process and will continue in subsequent certification phases over the duration of the project”.
Dounreay Tri (pictured) will feature two turbines on a single floating substructure and is due online in 2018.
