Spanish construction outfit Global Energy Services (GES) has landed a plum contract to build the 28.5MW Content solar farm in Jamaica.
The engineering, procurement and construction deal includes a long-term maintenance agreement with developer WRB Enterprises.
The Content array will be the country’s largest PV project. It will be commissioned later this year.
“The Content Jamaica project supports the work we’ve made in our solar division during the initial months as an independent business unit,” said Rafael Montaner, the GES Business Development and Solar Business Unit Director.
“We are very confident that 2016 will be an imperative year for the recognition of GES as one of the main EPC contractors in the utility grade Solar Industry.”
The project, also known as the Clarendon Parish array, will be the second utility-scale solar plant that GES has built in the Caribbean region after it completed the 22MW IIlumina project in Puerto Rico in 2012.
