AW Energy’s WaveRoller wave energy converter power-take-off has been tested at full scale at the WaveRoller Research Center in Järvenpää in Finland.
The company said the grid-connected 350kW PTO “meets electricity generation expectations throughout the power matrix”.
It said that the research Centre’s wave machine can generate up to 2MW of input power.
The WaveRollers electro-hydraulic PTO is connected to the machine “making it possible to test and fine tune the units on dry land. Every unit rolled out from the production line can be tuned to meet the local wave resource in any corner of the world”.
AW Energy development manager Jussi Åkerberg said: “We have now a world class test facility where we can among other things verify compliance with the grid codes of the full scale device.”
