SSE business Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission has completed a £53m power line that runs from Beauly to a new substation at Corriemoillie in north west Scotland on time and under budget.
The project which started in March 2013 involved adding an overhead line, underground cables and works on Beauly substation.
The old overhead line was replaced with new, higher capacity conductors which can export more power and are more reliable.
A total of 188 old overhead line towers were removed and replaced by 97 new towers and 3km of undergrounded cable.
“Local residents had asked that there were no towers visible for the last 3km stretch of cable that ran from Dunmore to Beauly substation so we worked with our environmental, archaeological and construction teams to see if we could underground the line,” explained SHE Transmission project manager Daryn Lucas.
“The outcome is a reduced number of towers being replaced and by March 2016 all of the old towers will have been dismantled.”
Garve and District Council chairman Kenny Maclean added: “This project has had its geographical challenges, especially in the Garve area.
“The SHE Transmission team has attended several Community Council meetings – both pre works and during the project – to help keep the community fully informed of progress.
“We appreciate the time they have given us and their willingness to listen to any concerns we may have had.”
