Scottish ministers have tossed out Eventus Duurzaam’s plans for a 24-turbine wind farm on the edges of Rannoch Moor in Scotland.
The application for the Talladh-a-Bheithe project was filed to Edinburgh officials last year has been ruled “not competent” because the legal entity pursuing the plans was not formed until after the original paperwork was submitted.
“It has come to the attention of Scottish ministers that the applicant, Talladh-a-Bheithe Wind Farm Limited, was not incorporated under the Companies Act 2006 as a private company until 28 August 2014,” it said. The application was filed on 23 June.
Netherlands company Eventus faced stiff opposition to its around 75MW plans, which have been in development since 2006.
The Mountaineering Council of Scotland said: “Although the decision was based on a specific legal point . . . many people thought the very idea of wind farm in such an unspoilt area was incompetent.”
It is unclear if Eventus will re-apply.
