Italy-based Prysmian Group has won a deal with Iberdrola worth €60m to supply and install inter-array lines at the 350MW Wikinger offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea.
Under the contract, Prysmian is responsible for the design, manufacture, installation, burial, termination and testing of a total 81km of 33kV submarine cables to connect the project’s 70 turbines and an offshore substation.
Cables will be produced in Prysmian’s facility in Drammen, Norway, and installation work is scheduled to be complete by the end of 2016.
Wikinger is located within the West of Adlergrund cluster and will feature Areva M5000-135 turbines.
In May 2014, Prysmian Group won a contract with 50Hertz Offshore GmbH to design, produce and install multiple 220kV HVAC submarine cable systems between planned offshore wind sites within the zone.
