Streamlined Naval Architects has installed a floating tension leg met mast in the Aegean Sea as part of a demo project that will gather meteorological data for future offshore wind development off Greece.
The mast was recently fixed in position 250 metres off the island of Makronisos in water depths of 65 metres.
Streamlined is carrying out the project alongside Greek construction outfits ETME and Ergomare as well as the Enalios Diving Center.
UK engineering outfit Balltec meanwhile provided 4 subsea adjustable mooring connectors and H Links for the project.
The project has been funded by a mix of private capital and funding from the European Innovation Council’s Horizon 2020 programme.
The mast will gather data for a one year period and has been designed to operate in wave heights of up to 10.4 metres.
