With the acquisition of Blix, Afry enhances its competence and consulting service offerings in the offshore and onshore wind sector, it said.

The merger companies will be able to cover the entire project life-cycle from the early strategy phase to the execution and operation of the wind farm.

Directors and founders of Blix Consultancy Albert van der Hem & Maarten Timmerman said: “Becoming part of Afry gives us the leverage to stay at the forefront of the energy transition in the fast-growing global renewable energy market.

“We are delighted to drive and expand Afry’s presence in the Netherlands, the Baltics and other thriving countries in Eastern Asia.

“We are looking forward to entering new markets together, offering our longstanding expertise in offshore and onshore wind, offshore grids, system integration and nature inclusive design.”

Afry’s head of renewables and thermal power, energy division Peter Plug added: “We are proud to welcome such an experienced team with a strong commitment to providing innovative solutions for a sustainable future.

“The shared values, competencies and ambitions make Blix a key addition to the team and enables Afry to move ahead with its strategy of being a global leader in the clean energy transition.”

Blix will be consolidated into Afry as of March 2023.
