The Engie-led LEM consortium has completed the permitting stage for its 496MW Noirmoutier offshore wind farm off the French coast.
Offshore construction is scheduled to kick off in 2020 and complete in 2023 at the French Round 2 project.
But that schedule is likely to be pushed back by appeals, which opponents can file once the construction permit is obtained. All French Round 1 projects were pushed back by several years due to appeals.
The LEM consortium, which also includes EDPR and Caisse des Dépôts, is hoping to obtain full authorisation for its second project, the 496MW Treport development, in the first quarter of 2019.
LEM will install 8MW Siemens Gamesa turbines at the projects.
Noirmoutier is situated about 16km off the Atlantic Coast, where waters are up to 35m deep. Treport is located 16km off the coast of Normandy in the English Channel, where waters are up to 25m deep.
