UK engineering support services company Babcock has deployed its Forecast floating lidar at the site of Vattenfall’s 92.4MW Aberdeen Bay offshore wind farm off the coast of Scotland.
The lidar has been installed as part of a 12-month contract to collect wind resource and metocean data, Babcock said.
It is the second deployment of Babcock’s floating lidar, with the system having previously undergone an 18-month trial at RWE’s Gwynt y Mor site in Liverpool Bay.
Babcock managing director for energy and marine technology Ian Lindsay said: “This is another key development for the renewable sector and an exciting programme for the Rosyth team to be involved in.”
