Baltic Towers has signed an agreement with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy to supply towers for the Baltica 2 offshore wind project.
Baltic Towers said the deal covers the largest batch of towers for the project, while Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy noted it is strengthening cooperation with local and regional partners.
The company added that Baltica 2 is being developed jointly by Grupa PGE and Ørsted, with first power expected in 2027.
The offshore wind farm will be capable of supplying electricity to around 2.5 million recipients including households, hospitals, schools, public institutions and businesses.
Baltic Towers operates a manufacturing facility in Gdańsk valued at €200m, focused on producing towers for offshore wind turbines.
“We are fully prepared to deliver towers for the largest offshore turbines currently available and ready to increase our production capacity as new-generation turbines enter the market,” said Baltic Towers chief Jakub Wnuczyński (pictured).
“We are proud that Baltic Towers will be a supplier for a project located in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea.”
“By securing tower manufacturing capacity in Poland, Siemens Gamesa is strengthening its commitment to working with local and regional partners on key offshore wind investments,” said Grzegorz Należyty, managing director of Siemens Energy and Siemens Gamesa Poland.
“The new partnership with Baltic Towers confirms our ambition to further develop offshore wind projects in Europe.”
Ørsted is responsible for construction of the offshore part of Baltica 2, including coordination of foundations, towers, turbines, installation and commissioning.
“Turbine installation for Baltica 2 is planned for the second quarter of 2027,” said Ulrik Lange, vice president and managing director of the Baltica 2 project at Ørsted.
