Work has started on the operations and maintenance (O&M) base in Wick for SSE’s 588MW Beatrice offshore wind farm off the coast of Scotland.
Principal contractor for the job BAM Nuttall has hired local company GMR Henderson for preparatory works for the renovation work on two buildings in Lower Pulteneytown.
GMR Henderson director Gerald Henderson said: “Of course there are many benefits to working on a project round the corner, not just the small commute in the mornings, but that we can be part of a project that, when completed, we will be able to see and take pride in every day.”
The £10m O&M centre is scheduled to be ready for commissioning activities at the wind farm in 2018.
