German authorities have given planning permission for two offshore wind grid connections.
Federal maritime and hydrographic agency BSH has approved 50Hertz’s 300MW Ostwind 3 project in the Baltic Sea.
The TSO will install the Jasmund substation 42km off north-east Rugen, which will be connected by a 100km cable.
Power from nearby turbines will be fed directly into the converter station via 66kV cables and operations are to start in 2026.
Amprion meanwhile has been given its first planning permission for an offshore grid connection, the 900MW DolWin4.
The DolWin Delta platform will be located 45km north of Norderney in the North Sea.
It will be connected to shore by 60km of cables.
Due to the interference with the marine environment associated with construction and operation, BSH has ordered compensation measures including the reintroduction of the European oyster.
The grid connection system is scheduled to go into operation by autumn 2028.
