Bibby Marine Services will tomorrow launch its latest walk-to-work service operation vessel (SOV) for the offshore wind market.
The vessel, named Bibby WaveMaster Horizon, will splash down at Damen’s Galati shipyard in Romania, where it has been under construction since May 2018.
The shipyard will complete final fit out of the WaveMaster Horizon, which will then be sent for sea trials.
Siemens Gamesa will take control of the vessel in late August 2019 under a long-term charter.
The vessel will serve operations and maintenance duties at EnBW’s 497MW Hohe See and 112MW Albatros projects in the German North Sea.
The new SOV uses the same design as sister ship Wavemaster 1.
Both vessels feature a stepless gangway and a 3D motion compensated crane system from SMST that will allow turbine transfers in 2.5-metre wave heights.
Wavemaster 1 has just finished supporting Boskalis with cable installation work at Vattenfall’s 407MW Horns Rev 3 wind farm off Denmark.
The vessel will spend the summer working at oil and gas projects in the north sea for Total E&P Netherlands.
