Bladt Industries has completed the load out of the first transition pieces for monopiles for Orsted’s 1400MW Hornsea 2 offshore wind project off the UK coast.
The first batch of transition pieces were loaded out of Aalborg in Denmark.
Hornsea 2 will feature 165 foundations and transition pieces in total.
Bladt Industries will deliver 135 transitions pieces and last loadout will take place during 2021.
The manufacturer recently shipped the first six anode cages for the project.
DEME’s jack-up installation vessel Innovation is due to commence monopile works in October.
Hornsea 2 is located 89 km off the Yorkshire coast and is due online in 2022.
It will use 8.4MW turbines from Siemens Gamesa featuring new 82-metre long blades, currently being fabricated at the Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy blade factory in Hull.
