Bladt Industries has completed the load out of the topside of the offshore substation for the 219MW Northwester 2 offshore wind project off the Belgian coast.
A spokesperson confirmed the load out at Bladt’s yard in Aalborg in Denmark “went smoothly”.
As engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contractor Bladt will install the Northwester 2 offshore substation in the Belgium portion of the North Sea.
The Northwester 2 wind farm is situated 46km off the coast of Belgium.
In May 2018 the developer Parkwind signed a turnkey EPCI contract with Bladt for the delivery and full installation of the wind farm’s substation, spanning design to final installation.
Bladt worked with Semco Maritime, which was responsible for the project’s electrical systems and ISC Engineering, which carried out the structural design of the substation.
Northwester 2 is the third time Bladt Industries has worked with these two partners to deliver a complete substation to the developer Parkwind.
Late last month Jan De Nul jack-up vessel Vole au Vent began monopile foundation installation at the Northwester 2 offshore wind project.
Both monopiles and transition pieces were produced and assembled at Bladt Industries yard in Aalborg, Denmark.
Foundations are then shipped to Ostend in Belgium for load out on the jack-up vessel.
