Consultancy Deutsche Windguard has supported Trianel on the development of the 200MW Borkum 2 offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
The work has included technical support preparing the turbine tender, optimisation analysis for different turbine types and assessment of turbulence and load effects caused by the wind farm’s layout.
Deutsche Windguard also prepared energy yield assessment reports that formed the basis of project financing for Borkum 2.
Trianel Windkraftwerk Borkum 2 executive Manuel Eck said: “With the decision to look at larger wind turbine types, questions arose regarding the impact these changes will have on neighbouring turbines and the resulting requirements for authorisation.
“(Deutsche Windguard) swiftly adapted to the change in circumstances and were quick to offer viable technical solutions.”
