Fred Olsen Windcarrier’s Brave Tern has passed the halfway mark on its journey across the Atlantic to bring GE Renewable Energy’s 150 6MW nacelles to Deepwater Wind’s 30MW Block Island wind farm in the US.
The towers and blades have already been delivered to the Port of Providence in the US.
Deepwater Wind plans to start turbine installation in August, with commissioning of the US’s first offshore wind farm expected in late 2016.
Brave Tern has also been fitted with the ZephIR Lidar 300 to deliver real-time wind information.
