Bureau Technical Services has secured a contract to to provide quality and inspection work at the 1400MW Sofia Offshore Wind Farm.
The project, owned by RWE, will comprise 100 turbines, an offshore converter station and hundreds of kilometres of both inter-array and export cables as well as onshore electrical infrastructure.
Under a framework agreement, Bureau will support the project with quality and inspection services activity for the project off the English coast.
It is currently involved in monitoring the export cables package at Prysmian’s Pikkala factory in Finland, where it will be overseeing the manufacture and loadout of the 320kV HVDC offshore export cable.
This is alongside multiple ad-hoc manufacturing surveillance activities in the UK and Europe.
Bureau Technical Services’ director of operations Tom Greaves said: “The Sofia project marks another milestone in Bureau’s expanding offshore wind offering, becoming our twenty-project involvement since 2014.
“Due to our successful ongoing commitment to the Triton Knoll Offshore Wind Farm, we are pleased to be awarded this framework and be part of another RWE project.”
Sofia Offshore Wind Farm is located approximately 200km off the north east coast on England and when completed is expected to generate enough energy to power 1.2 million homes annually.
