Buss Terminal at Eemshaven in the Netherlands is to be the base port for foundation installation at the 1400MW Hornsea 2 offshore wind farm 89km off the east coast of England.
The contract awarded by DEME Offshore will see Buss carry out handling, storage and terminal logistics for the 165 monopiles and transition pieces.
Approximately 140,000 metres of the 250,000-metre heavy cargo terminal will be occupied.
Buss Energy Group managing director Martin Schulz said: “We are delighted to provide our services for this large-scale project to Deme Offshore in the UK.
“This underlines the combined strength of our project team in Hamburg and our terminal in Eemshaven.”
Danish energy company Orsted is developing Hornsea 2 which will feature 165 Siemens Gamesa 8MW turbines.
The wind farm is scheduled to be fully operational in 2022.
