California Governor Gavin Newsom has proposed allocating $45m for offshore wind infrastructure in the US state’s budget for the 2022-2023 fiscal year.
The money would create an Offshore Wind Energy Deployment Facility Improvement Program.

The program would invest in activities to advance the capabilities of deploying offshore wind energy in federal waters off California in the areas of facility planning and development.
The budget proposal also includes $100m to advance the use and production of green hydrogen in the 2022-2023 period.
A further $380m would be allocated between 2022 and 2024 to invest in long duration storage projects throughout the state to support grid reliability.
