Cammell Laird has appointed Jonathan Brown as managing director for its energy division to boost growth in the renewables market.
Brown joins from Rolls Royce, where he led the nuclear new build and projects group.
The new role will help the Birkenhead shipyard and engineering services provider ramp up its operations across the energy sector. It aims to boost growth in nuclear, renewables and oil and gas.
Renewable energy has accounted for up to 10-15% of Cammell Laird’s revenue in recent years, including work for Innogy’s 576MW Gwynt y Mor offshore wind farm.
“Cammell Laird has a long-term plan to diversify into the energy markets and we are pleased that Jonathan has joined us to help spearhead our operations,” chief executive John Syvret said.
“Our aim is to become one of the prime contractors in Britain serving the energy industry.”
