Chinese company Orient Cable has won a contract to provide dynamic cables for a pilot offshore wind project in China that will connect turbines with fixed-bottoms to turbines on floating structures.
Orient Cable said it plans to use one 35kV dynamic cable to connect a 5.5MW floating turbine to a fixed-bottom unit in the southern China Sea.

The company will carry out design and manufacturing of the whole cable package, with delivery planned for the middle of this year.
It added that it has already provided dynamic power cables for Petronas in 2018.
China Three Gorges and Ming Yang Smart Energy plan to demonstrate a 5.5MW turbine on floating foundations at the Yangxi West Shapa project this year.
