Danish company Survey Association has exited the US offshore wind market and ‘terminated’ its strategic alliance with Charles Taylor Marine Technical Services (CTMTS).
Survey Association, which has been involved in offshore wind for over 20 years in Europe and Japan said the partnership set up in 2020 “did not manage to live up to the expectations” of the company.
It said that the “US market has proven to be distinctly different from that of the European and Japanese markets”.
The company added that the partnership “has now been terminated and Survey Association is pulling back, to focus on delivering services to clients in Europe and Japan”.
Survey Association said since the inception of the alliance with CTMTS it had been training the latter’s staff in the disciplines of offshore wind marine warranty surveying and risk management and entered dialogue with US developers.
Survey Association chief executive Henrik Uth said: “The US market has a lot of potential, but has a fundamentally different approach to risk engineering and management, which is not matching with our operating model, wherefore we have opted to exit this market.
“This allows us to focus on our current strongholds in Denmark, the Baltic Sea and Japan, and support offshore wind farm developers and Insurers with marine risk management.”
CTMTS had not responded for a request for comment at press time.
