Danish companies NIRAS and Copenhagen Offshore Partners (COP) have joined forces on a project to kickstart the development of offshore wind farms in the Philippines.
COP designated NIRAS to conduct the local environmental impact assessments (EIA) and environmental social impact assessments (ESIAs) for the future offshore wind farm sites, of which COP is leading the development and construction activities on behalf of Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP).
During the kick-off meeting the Danish Ambassador to the Philippines Franz-Michael Mellbin, said: “Both NIRAS and CIP/COP are veterans in the wind and offshore wind sectors.
“In many ways, [they are also] all pioneers of a new energy future for the Philippines.
“In the future, the Philippines can become much more energy-independent, and this is a huge step forward for any nation.”
